Medical Math Lesson 1 Chapter 5 in the supplement

I'm working on the beginning of my second semester. Im on the last two questions of the chapter 5 supplement. I'm having issues with two questions. I got the first one but dont quite get why the answer is the answer and theres mo examples in the books I can go back to to help me figure it out.

4. A 4-kg cat, Betsy, requires oral preparation. The preparation is available in a 5% solution. The dosage is 20 mg/mg daily. How much will Betsy require for 7 days?

4kg x 20mg/1kg x 1mL/50mg = 80/50 = (1.6)7= 11.2 mL

*I'm lost with the percentage part

5. Ted, a 9-kg Bedlington terrier, needs medication at a dose rate of 5 mg/mg. The medication is available as a 20% solution. How much does Ted require for a single dose?

9kg x 5mg/1kg x 1mL/20mg = 45/20 = 2.25

*I tried doing what I thought I learned in question 4. But it didnt apply over here and this is the wrong answer as well

ANSWER : 0.45 mL

Help please

Honestly it would be nice to have someone to talk with about the work and the studying on  some of the sections . I'm currently doing Electronic Medical Records so if anyone wanted to study together I would be cool with that.

Hi. I also get very frustrated with the answer key. Some of the codes have been updated. I had the same question with regards to 2.6. I reached out to the instructor and it appears as if we simply don’t have enough info. Coding the keratocanthomas isn’t wrong per se. The coder in the textbook may have more info than we have. wish I had a better answer!!!

I have a jackuaua named Scrappy (and that he is!) That I rescued from a shelter when he was 7 wks. old. He is now going to be 11 yrs old next month. I have a rescued cat named Faith that I found in the woods on my property when she was a couple months old and she is now 8 yrs old. I also have a red eared slider turtle named Echo that I rescued from near death. She was tossed into a pond and had a respiratory infection and was starved. I took her to my vet and got her on meds and got her fattened up. She was approximately 6 yrs old then and is now 13 enjoying her life with my other red eared slider "Slider" who is 15 yrs old and I got her when she was a hatchling. I also have a 29 yr old cockatiel already named Sammy that I took in from an older lady who could no longer care for him. He was about 15 yrs old when I got him. I have a 75 gallon freshwater fish tank with 3 nerite snails, a 15 in. pleco, 2 agassiz's cory catfish, 1 rare blue oranda and 1 ryukin goldfish,1 panda garra catfish,1 ruffa garra catfish and I just come to realize that the aquarium plants that I bought must have had mystery snail eggs in them because I now have 12 + very tiny baby snails!

That's funny because my best friend had a boxer and he swore his paws smelled like Doritos!

I have always loved horses since I can remember walking! They are beautiful animals and by far my favorite. My best friend had a horse that he got as a foal and he broke him himself. I got to ride, groom and care for him as if he were my own. His name is Bishop and he is half Arabian half appy. He had to sell him though because his job had him traveling a lot and I was unable at the time to be able to own him and care for him properly. Both of my parents grew up on farms and had horses as well as my sister but by the time I came along the farms were sold I I got the short end of the stick! I never got to truly own one of my own. I do want to volunteer soon at a non profit horse rescue down the road from me just so I can get more experience with them and be around them. I LOVE the smell of a barn! It will also be good for when I go to do my final externship at the end of this semester. I am hoping to get a couple horses of my own one day when I buy a home with property. I only have half an acre now.
